I’ve been designing video, projections and various other types of media for live performance for 20 years.  During this time the use of multimedia in performance has changed radically both technically and visually. There is no formula to what I do.  Each project is absolutely unique with it’s own set opportunities and limitations. Sometimes a marker and an overhead projector is what makes sense, sometimes 80 monitors of various sizes are what’s called for. I don’t believe that multimedia is necessary for live performance, light yes,  sound probably, an audience most definitely.  We’re all over-saturated with multimedia so I think there should be great reason for using it.
